The weather was a bit different from what I had expected but I was actually quite happy as I like cooler weather. I was
camped at Contorta point and my main focus is always macs. Unfortunately the wind was blowing most of the time and I have
my best success jigging for macs. I trolled deep a lot for them but even though I could find them I couldn't round up any
biters. Out of desperation for a “fish on” I migrated towards the kokanee nation (wad of boats) and commenced
to get my limit of kokes. My second evening there I decided to go hard core for the browns. I was fishing around Rainbow
point , trying to stay in 15’ to 30’ of water flatlining a F18 RT Original Floater Rapala. I have caught more
browns on this lure than any others! I hooked up around 8:00 or 8:30 with what I thought was a brown of a lifetime. This fish
peeled line time after time in shallow water. When I finally got him to the net I wasn't too disappointed to see a giant 20lb.
mack, as he gave up such a great fight. I did a quick weigh in the net and let him git goin as he was doin great! The
next evening I was working the point just opposite Rainbow. I just got a new Humminbird 998csi with the Navionics card. WOW!
It is accurate! I stayed in one area working underwater structure, as it just seemed too fishey. Again same water depths and
about the same time. Only difference was that it was snowing. Man, I love that! Keeps the waterskiers to a minimum if you
know what I mean! I had just stepped forward to get a beverage and WHAM, line was screamin off my Shimano Curado. I actually
had to back down on the fish with the motor to gain any line. It took me a good 15 minutes to finally see color and another
5 to get the giant male brown to the net. When I brought him on board I could not see my lure. He had totally inhaled it.
I clipped the line, weighed him at 10.5 lbs, and then tried remove the lure but it wasn't good. I put him in the fishbox and
called it a day. (A great one!) My pics are minimal as I fish alone but my wife took some when I got home but he had
been on ice for a day. Wow, that’s the most I’ve typed at one time in probably a year!!!!!! Anyway Tightlines
and hope to see you out there. Fishmanmike (Mike)
