Lake Billy Chinook in Oregon! AWESOME PIC, Jimmy!

February 12th thru 13th, 2011 - by Jimmy Lewis (aka "The Godfather)

Hello Brian,

I had the opportunity to fish with Bret Martin, his brother Monte and their friend Dave at Lake Billy Chinook. It had been a few years since I fished LBC. We got out on the water early on Saturday and went to the dead line out in front of the dam. First thing we notice was how dirty the water was. There was a lot of debris and the water was stained. Without a strike we decided to head up the Deschutes arm looking for cleaner water. The water quality was a little better on the Deschutes, but still stained. I did catch one stocky Bull Trout that weighed in at 6 pounds.

Only one fish for the trip, but breaks 5 lbs!

Jimmy C&R'd this stocky 6 lb Bull at LBC.

That would be the only fish caught during the weekend. We covered a lot of water trolling from the dam to the bridge on the Deschutes arm back to the Crooked arm bridge. Then finally trolling back to the deadline. We fished a half day on Sunday with no luck and called it a trip. The catching was bad but it was a fun fishing trip sharing stories and enjoying the beautiful weather. With the recent heavy spring snows it looks like my next trip will be some time in May.

Thanks,

Jimmy
