Memorial Day weekend proved to be explosive for Team
Burton on Crescent Lake. The weather was great on Saturday and despite
terrible weather on Sunday and Monday we managed to pull up some pretty decent
fish. We almost exclusively target Lakers, however, on occasion we
do get lucky and end up doing battle with some decent Browns. On Saturday
morning, after trolling for less than one minute, I caught a personal
record Brown Trout weighing in at 9-1 pounds after an epic topwater fight.
Lots of head shakes and hard pulling before we were able to put the fish
in the net. The fish bit very early in the morning in
about 20 feet of water.
After trolling for 1 minute.....BAM... |

The Barbarian gets slammed with a 9lb, 1oz female brown trout! Way to go, Jeb! |
After releasing this fine fish we headed out to deep
water to pursue the Lakers. The morning bite produced four nice fish, 20,
18, 15 1/2, 14 pounds.
Ho-Hum...just another 20 lber for Jeb ;-) |

Beautiful Fish! You guys are just nailing the macks this year! |

All these lakers were released back to Crescent Lake |
Jared...c'mon...only a 14 lber :-) |

I tell you, when the small fish is 14#'s, you're doing pretty good at trophy trout fishing! |
Sunday was rainy, windy and just plain nasty and
though we managed to put a pair of Lakers in the boat the weather and rough
water made fishing difficult. Monday morning brought a full-on deluge and
the rain continued to pour all day. Despite the conditions my wife,
Linda, caught a beautiful personal record Laker coming in at 23
pounds.

Her Personal best, a 23 lb Lake Trout! Way to go, Linda!!! |
Although the conditions made our
time on the water less than ideal we managed to produce some good
sized fish nonetheless. Crescent Lake has been an awesome fishery
for us this year and we look forward to continuing our success up
there. All of us at Team Burton want to express our thanks and gratitude
to RD and the rest of our friends at TTH for their friendship, kindness
and support. Jeb "the Barbarian" Burton
