Team
Burton ventured out to Crescent Lake recently and found some good success while fishing for Lake Trout. A three day/two
night trip put a dozen decent fish in the net, all of which were released to fight again another day. We thought we
would include some information other anglers might find helpful.
Friday:
Arrived late afternoon and found typical PM conditions with wind and intermittent clouds. We were able to fish about
two hours and landed a pair of nice Lakers at eight and twelve pounds. These fish were found deep and were caught trolling
a kokanee imitator just before dark.
Saturday:
On the water by five o'clock and starting fishing shortly thereafter. Attempted to keep warm which proved difficult
as the temperature was well below freezing. Tried topwater for Browns/Lakers and had zero success. Went deep and,
by the time we got blown off by the wind at ten o'clock, had managed to land four nice Lakers. These fish went 15, 14,
12, 10 pounds.
Sunday:
Beautiful calm and reasonably warm day. Perhaps the best weather day I have ever seen here in April. Tried topwater very
early and managed to land on dink Laker at about five pounds. Not a single boat on the water except us until
about nine o'clock. Not a stitch of wind, whatsoever, until about two in the afternoon. The fish were enjoying
the conditions as much as we were and they went on a tear. We landed six nice Lakers, 16 (2), 14, 13, 12, 10 pounds.
All of these fish were caught deep on kokanee imitators.
All
of the Trout we caught were healthy and feisty. We C&R'd every single fish and returned them to the lake.
My wife Linda, son Jared and I truly enjoy our time here at Crescent Lake. We value and honor the exquisite fishery
it has to offer and treat it with the respect and dignity if deserves. Our thanks to RD, Brian,
and everyone associated with Trophy Trout Hunter. Our best wishes to our "brother" fishermen!
We wish you ALL the best of luck.
